My next challenge..Royal Parks Half marathon

In January we sadly lost someone very special to us to ovarian cancer. “Nanny Barker” was such a strong, kind and caring person, always at the gym keeping fit and when not doing that she was renovating houses and traveling Europe so it really shocked us when our worlds came tumbling down with the worst news imaginable. She loved nothing more than spending time with her grandkids and having lots of fun…they have so many fond memories of her. I have so many fond memories of her.. so many stories to tell. She has left a huge hole in so many hearts. Life is so cruel… and we all miss her so much.

She would not want us all sitting around moping though I can assure you. She would be telling us all to pull ourselves together and stop making a fuss! But… she also knows there is no way I can sit around and not make a fuss of her… so in her honour I will stop moping and have been accepted for a charity place to run the Royal Parks Half marathon with Target ovarian cancer.

I regularly check it to see what races they are offering places for because I’d like to do an ultra Challenge next year to raise even more money but the dates have not yet been released… so in the meantime I thought this would be a great place to start.

The course takes you through central London, across four of London’s eight Royal Parks – Hyde Park, The Green Park, St James’s Park and Kensington Gardens. I can’t think of a better way to see the sites!

I am looking for sponsors to help make Margaret proud. There is a link to the right of my blog. If you can spare anything I would be so so grateful. Lets help raise awareness for this deadly disease and help fund clinical trials so that the success rate for curing ovarian cancer is improved. It is known at the silent cancer as its symptoms can be late on and not always identified quickly enough to be caught in the early stages.

Thank you for taking the time to read this…

I urge you all especially women to take a few minutes to read about the symptoms of Ovarian cancer. The more aware we are the better… Target ovarian Cancer symptom checker.
