Yesterday I got to spend some quality time with my mum at a spa. We literally could have been anywhere and I’d have been happy. It was a lovely chilled out day putting the world to rights.
It was a lovely little spa local to us. A mix of steam rooms and saunas to try and an out door heated hydrotherapy pool (yes I did have to look that up). The usual things you’d find at a spa.
We then found ourselves in the chill out room while we waited for our turn for lunch. This area had some beds where people were actually having 50 winks. I’m not quite sure why you would want to pay to have a kip but I guess we were surrounded but lots of mothers who were probably sleep deprived and absorbing every second they could of peace.
The moon chairs were amazing. I literally have spent the evening searching for one to buy. I’ll pretend its for the kids chill out corner. No one will need to know that I will be using it when they are at school so sshh do not tell my husband.
After what had been a lovely relaxing day we went off for our long awaited 2 course lunch.
Me being a massive foodie was looking forward to this the most. Probably setting myself up for disappointment too.
The food was nice but nothing special. The choices seemed a little strange but we both found something. I opted for the vegetable curry but they didn’t have rice so I had a salad with it. My mum had some kind of fish with salad but the thing we were both looking forward to the most was the cheese we had spotted when we were seated. We are both massive cheese addicts.
Of course no treat day would be complete without a teenie weenie dessert, and they only had my favourite banoffee pie. How could I resist. It was certainly worth the wait.
At least I have one thing to look forward to and that is plenty of spa days with my girls when they become adults.
Take time for yourself every now and then. A functioning mother makes for a far better functioning home
Hope you have all had a lovely weekend!
